The Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre is pleased to host its Multidisciplinary Cancer Symposium 2026, bringing together healthcare professionals, experts and members of the public for two days of learning, discussion and connection around cancer care.
This year's symposium takes a two-day approach, with each day offering a distinct experience. Day 1 is a Continuing Medical Education program for healthcare professionals, exploring the evolving science, innovation and human side of cancer care. Day 2 opens the conversation to the public, focusing on cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, treatment, survivorship and support.
Together, the two days recognize that advancing cancer care requires more than clinical expertise. It requires innovation, evidence, empathy, collaboration and an informed community.
DAY 1 | October 3
Beyond Boundaries: Integrating Innovation, Evidence, and Empathy in Cancer Care
CME for Healthcare Professionals | 10 CME Credit Hours
Day 1 is a focused Continuing Medical Education program bringing together healthcare professionals from multiple disciplines to explore emerging developments and evolving approaches in cancer care.
The program will examine how innovation, evidence and multidisciplinary collaboration can strengthen patient care and improve outcomes. Sessions will span Surgical Oncology, Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Pathology & Diagnostics, Palliative & Supportive Care, and Radiation Oncology, with topics exploring precision treatment, digital pathology and AI, radiation innovations, complex oncology regimens, and compassionate communication at the end of life.
The day will conclude with a multidisciplinary panel discussion focused on bridging science, systems and compassion to improve outcomes and access to cancer care.

Beyond Boundaries: From Awareness to Action - Making Cancer Care Everyone's Conversation
Open to the Public
Cancer affects more than the person receiving a diagnosis. It touches families, caregivers, workplaces and communities.
Day 2 brings the conversation beyond the clinical setting and makes cancer information accessible and relevant to everyone. Through engaging presentations and conversations, participants will explore cancer awareness, prevention, early detection, screening, treatment, survivorship and support.
Whether you want to learn more about reducing your risk, understand the importance of screening, support someone going through cancer, or simply become better informed, this day is designed to provide practical information that individuals and families can take away and put into action.

Important Information
CME
CME credit applies to the October 3 healthcare professional program. The program offers 10 CME credit hours. Participants must meet the applicable participation requirements to receive CME credit and certification.
Official Language
The official language of the symposium is English. Simultaneous interpretation is not provided.
Registration Transfers
Registration transfers are permitted. A registered participant may transfer their registration to another attendee or request to change their registration format between in-person and online, subject to availability and any applicable difference in registration fees.
No refund will be issued for transferring to a registration category of lesser value. If the transfer is to a category of greater value, the difference must be paid in full for the transfer to be completed.
All transfer requests must be submitted to Christine Joseph.
Refunds
Refund requests will be honored up to 3 days prior to the start of the symposium, subject to a 20% processing fee. Requests received after this period are not eligible for a refund. All refund requests are subject to review.
Cancellation/Postponement
SLBMC reserves the right to cancel or postpone the symposium, or modify the program, speakers, dates, venue or format due to unforeseen circumstances.
In the unlikely event that SLBMC must cancel or postpone the symposium, registrants will be notified as soon as possible and provided with information regarding available options, which may include transferring registration to a rescheduled event or receiving a refund of the registration fee.
SLBMC is not responsible for any related travel, accommodation, transportation or other costs, charges or expenses incurred by registrants.

Changes, Transfers & Refunds

For Day 1, you may request to change your attendance format from in-person to online, subject to availability and any applicable difference in registration fees. Please note that Day 2 does not have an online option.
For Day 1, you may request to change from online to in-person, subject to availability. If the in-person registration fee is higher than the amount already paid, the difference must be paid before the change is confirmed.
